Financial crisis and food...

Hello everybody..
Here we are struggling with the global financial crisis, something that is affecting us in different ways,if you still have a job you are lucky....I'm still have a job thank god...but my point is how this situation affecting you when it comes to food?To start we stopped going to eat out...We use to do it 6 or 8 times a month..now maybe 1 or 2...Big change...now cooking at home and trying to stretch the money....Well here is my plan and I would like if you can share some other tips...to help us each other...
We eat vegetables but not like rabbits...ha!
If today I got a roasted chicken I'll make my own mashed potato is cheaper and add some steam corn or peas ....next day I would still have chicken right! well I cook the chicken and make taquitos with mexican rice and I have taquitos for almost 2 days.
Next day! mmmmh! good question.....I would go with "Peroguies" I found my own way to cook them to add some flavor..because they are kind of blend, and of course with maybe steam broccoli or asparragus, and goes pefectly with angel hair soup....so far I spent about less than $15.00 in 4 days....Do You have any comments...recipes....or tips...on what do you do to stretch your money wisely?
At the end of the day...I'm grateful with the "universe"..with "God" for everything I have and for all that I don't have.
Start being grateful everyday....Think positive....
